BIG THICKET PORCELAIN ART CLUB

CHINA PAINTING?   PORCELAIN PAINTING?   What is this art?

China painting - or porcelain painting is the fine art of painting on china ware.  The decoration of pottery dates back to ancient times when man first discovered that fired clay defied water and could be molded into practical vessels such as pitchers. Through the ages pottery has been refined and ultimately glazed.  As esthetics became more important, painters began using vessels as objects to show their art.  Practical use has become secondary to beauty.

The porcelain artist of today has the advantage of the use of magazines, catalogs, and patterns that have been printed with color and detail.   Also, there are videos on the market for beginner and advanced students.

Come  china paint with us.  Learn to mix these powders of brilliant color with a medium, then apply them  to a chosen piece of china.    Thin layers of paint are applied to the china  and it is  fired in a kiln to about 1200 degrees.    It is a thrill to watch your work come alive.     This ancient art of  china painting is one we want and need to keep alive.       Join us-you’ll like it!!
